: : To say that someone is "cruising for a bruising" means that he is behaving or talking in an inflammatory or intensely irritating way that is liable to get him beaten up. Very similar phrases are "rooting for a booting" or "clammering for a hammering".

I'd never heard it before Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the moon" - it is used in the verbal snippets.
