: What does the phrase "If you are what I eat, then I will be you tomorrow?" mean?
The adage "you are what you eat",which implies that eating wholesome food will keep you healthy, has been given a literal cannibalistic twist. "If I ate you, then I would be you".
If this statement were true for people, students would no longer need to study; they'd have their instructors for breakfast. Horror film cannibal Hannibal Lecter would be prancing in high heels and swirling skirts one day and a businessman's suit the next. And no one would sing off-key.
Strangely enough, the statement is true for planaria, primitive flatworms. Train this invertebrate to respond to some stimulus. Then slice and dice. Any planaria given this special diet will behave as the trained one did.
