: : I am wondering if anyone knows the origin of the phrase "fill your boots"
: : Thanks
: It seems to have more than one meaning. Typing "boots" into the Search box will get you some previous discussions in which people proposed alternative meanings and their origins.
The archived discussion started from https://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/7/messages/474.html has some alternative meanings. It doesn't appear to include the one that is in use by UK football commentators, which is 'score lots of goals'.
