I spent the day with a friend from Leicester who used a nice expression. She was helping me put my son in his car seat and I was standing waiting to get into the trunk to put away the stroller. She turned around and saw me and said "Oh my goodness, I've taken so long at this and there you are waiting like Alice." She says people use this expression a lot in Leicester but she doesn't know where it comes from. I thought Alice in Wonderland maybe?
Anyway, would be interested if anyone knows any more about it. If not, I thought it's quite a colouful phrase for the archives.
