: I looked in the archieves, I didn't think there was a very good answer - also, I would have used it in a different context - more in line with being overly extensive in examining a problem - but I did see it used in a political commentary that a politican lied six ways to Sunday.

In both those contexts, it means "in every way possible." The same meaning, I think, or pretty close.
