: I confess to scanning half a dozen blogs a day. I am seeing the word, "graf", used frequently as a short form of "paragraph". My question is -- is this a new usage or does this come from the argot of the publishing trade? Have editors always told their writers to, say, "cut six grafs" from their stories, make sure that they mention the name of the subject "in the first graf", etc.?
I can remember that from my newspaper days. But it was spelled graph.
