: : : Chicago is the Windy City; NYC is the Big Apple. What other cities have colorful nicknames like these?
: : Sheffield is, or more often was, called the Steel City. That originated in the days when Sheffield made the world's cutlery. The other UK city I know best - Birmingham, is known by local wags as the Celestial City. They are strong on irony down there.
: Liverpool a.k.a. "City of cars on bricks"
: London "the Smoke"
: Manchester "too much smoke" (it does me fkin 'ead in man!)
