: : Anybody know the meaning of Elvis Presley's "Wear my ring around your neck"?

: In the 1950s and 1960s, when Elvis's career flourished, among some teenage couples who were "going steady" (dating each other regularly and exclusively), the girl wore the boy's school ring on a chain around her neck, as jewelry. It was a marker of their relationship.

To clarify - boys' fingers are bigger than girls', so girls needed to find another way to wear the rings rather than on their fingers - so they threaded them on necklaces (rather than around their neck African style!)
