"Dream Merchant" is a person who sells illusions and fantasies, either for entertainment (Walt Disney, for example) or for larceny (a con man.)
A "one-man industry" would be a person who generates so much business that he is the economic equivalent of an entire industry. (By the way, who was the person?)
