: : A carpenter working for me several years ago was impatiently waiting for one of his coworkers to preform a task. He screamed at him, "You're standing around with your teeth in your mouth". I assume he meant the guy wasn't working very fast. Ever heard it?

: No, I haven't. (W.Va., Ky.)

I heard it from time to time long ago. It didn't make any sense to me then and still doesn't. Steve Adam's assumption as to the meaning of the phrase he heard is correct, although you might phrase it as, "He wasn't working hard enough."
