The Bridge

Posted by T on February 28, 2008 at 16:36:

Does anyone know the origin of the phrase "The Bridge" as it relates to the management of a yacht club? It is commonly used to describe the group made up by the Commodore, Vice or Rear Commodore, Secretary and Treasurer. Clearly, there must be some connection to the "bridge of a ship," but I have not been able to find it listed anywhere.
