: I can't help you except to say that the version "Loose lips sink ships" was printed up and posted in numerous places, especially near seaports, and was frequently heard on the radio, early in America's participation in the War, that is to say, much earlier than 1945.

In the UK we 'careless talk costs lives', equally all over the place - railway stations, street hoardings, etc, etc.
