: : What is the meaning of work wonders? Please use in a sentence.

: It means "be miraculously successful", as in "A timely application of stain remover worked wonders on my white tablecloth."

The phrase is more understandable if you break it into its components. Each of the two words is used in a slightly archaic sense that it doesn't usually have. "Work" means make or produce, as in "to work magic." A wonder is a miracle, an awe-inspiring event, something to wonder at. ~rb
