: : What is the meaning and origin of the phase, "they are like Frit and Frat"?

: It means two people are very close, practically inseparable (or sometimes indistinguishable).

: Frick and Frack was an ice-skating act popular back in the 40's and 50's consisting of the Swiss skaters Werner Groebli (Frick) and Hans Mauch (Frack). They appeared in several movies, on TV(e.g. Ed Sullivan) and toured with the Ice Follies.

I'm glad you clarified that. One time when I was hospitalized, two residents kept coming round who looked and acted pretty much alike. I couldn't remember their names, so I called them Frick and Frack, and they didn't like it at all.
