: : Hello,
: : I would like to know if there is anyone who can help me with this phrase: "to get the heads out on". I will provide you with the context.
: : Two scientists are examining a tortoise. One of the says: "It is a shy little thing, isn't it?"
: : The other one replies:"Yeah, very hard to get the heads out on these species."
: : Thanks in advance for your reply
: Since they're talking about a tortoise, or turtle, I imagine the comment means that this kind of tortoise likes to keep his head inside the shell, and is not easily coaxed to stick his head out again.

It might be somewhat clearer if it said ".... out with these species".
