: : : The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
: : : It is unique in that is uses every letter of the alphabet.
: : : What was this phrase/sentence used for and who wrote it?
: : : Please help.
: : It's a typing "exercise." It seems to me I saw the origin somewhere. If I find it again, I'll post it.
: Certainly its a typing exercise, it also uses alternate fingers to produce the correct words.
: By the way, our current keyboard layout was devised to slow down typing and reduce the lockups associated with mechanical typewriters.
: I've tried the much efficient DVORAK version, but my old fingers can't adapt. Some "hard-wired" things are hard to change.
My fingers don't seem to alternate, particularly at j-u-m
