: Green on Thursday and red on Friday.
: People in the U.S. were instructed to wear red today (Friday) in recognition of heart disease in women. When I was in high school in the 1960s in West Virginia, those colors on those days were taboo. If you wore green on Thursday, you were qu**r and red on Friday meant you were a wh*re.
: My question, have you heard of that "custom" or whatever? I asked some people today and the answer was, no. I wondering if it was just a local thing.
In my junior high school, there was a saying, "Thursday is queers' day," but no particular color was associated with it. For a few weeks, some kids dressed in strange outfits on Thursdays. The administration put a stop to this frivolity. I think it had little to do with homosexuality, really; "queer" meant something close to "eccentric," at least in the more innocent minds.
We had no custom for Fridays.
