: I am curious to know the origin of 'doggie bag'. Thanks!

From the way you phrase that, fairlopgirl, I'm not sure whether or not you know what the expression means. So I'll just review a bit. A "doggie bag" is what you get at a restaurant when they've given you more than you can eat. The remainder they put in a bag for you (or they give you a bag for you to use) to take home to feed to the dog. Of course, you don't have to have a dog, and don't have to give him the food even if you do. When did this start? Quite a long time ago, but I couldn't put a date on it. SS
