: : : : : My grandfather was fond of the phrase
: : : : : "He/She/They should be shot with **** and hung for stinking." Origins please?

: : : : I have never heard it. But I love it and am stealing it.

: : : I've heard (and used) a variation here in Ireland: 'He should be shot with shovel-fulls (sic) of cow ****!' Sorry I don't know the origin.

: : Cattalac -- where did your grandfather live? And when did he say this?

: I have not heard of this one either, but I, too, am stealing it--it's very expressive!

My grandfather was born in South Carolina, but his ancestry was Irish being that his mother was a Boatwright and his wife was a Carney both of which were first-generation Americans so the Irish origin sounds likely.
