: When I was just a young thing (a couple of days ago - snicker), the verb 'grow' was associated with things organic. In recent years, it's become cool to say 'Grow your business'.

: We used to say things like 'help your business to grow', but we didn't say 'grow your business'.

: We used to grow flowers, and grow trees, but I don't recall that we ever grew anything non-organic. I have looked up a range of dictionaries, and technically it appears there is nothing incorrect about saying 'grow your business', but it does seem to be a recent abhorration to me.

: Is this use of the word 'grow' generally acceptable? Or is it just a case of me needing to 'grow' with the times?

It's a business buzzword in the U.S. But I find it annoying.
