: It can refer to the mileage recorded on the mileometer of a car. In other words, how much has this car been used?

: It can also refer to the cost of a taxi ride shown on the taxi meter.

"On the clock" also means that the person is getting paid. It refers to the "time clock" used to keep track of an employee's hours.
