: Does anyone know the meaning of the phrase "salad days"?
: I've heard it's from Antony and Clepatra but I can't find it.
: Thanks!
Shakespeare did use it in A&C. It may have originated earlier; Shakespeare often used biblical phrases, although I don't think this is one. He never used the word Bible in any of his plays though.
CLEOPATRA
My salad days,
When I was green in judgment: cold in blood,
To say as I said then!
