Origin? Date of Origin?

Where does the phrase "My Hat Goes off to You" come from, and when did it originate? I haven't been able to find the origin. I'll use it in a sentence : "My hat goes off to Steve McHugh, who instigated 34 total messages with his one stupid question about the Pulp Fiction Briefcase."
