: : The "shot heard 'round the world" was fired in Lexington on April 18, 1775, when a group of colonial militiamen engaged in battle with British regulars. The American Revolution had begun.

: Not to be confused with the original "Shot Heard 'Round the World", the baseball version was so called in part because it was the first playoff or World Series to be ended by what we now call a walk-off home run, and also because it was literally heard around the world, being broadcast live over U.S. Armed Forces Radio to troops stationed domestically and in Europe, the Pacific Islands, Japan, and Korea, among many other places.

Of course Mr.Bonaparte had nothing to do with the US revolution!
It is the other way around.
The late 1700s gave rise to a movement of nationalism which INCLUDED Mr. Bonaparte's rise and demise.
After the US, the colonies of Spain and Portugal in Latin and South America started saying good bye to mom also.
