: I thought that "the shot heard around the world" was when archduke ferdinand was assinated in sarajevo, commencing WWI....someone told that was wrong and it had to do w/ the revolutionary war...could someone help me out ASAP!
In 1951, a Bobby Thomson hit a 3 run homer to win the World Series for the NY Giants. Ralph Branca threw the pitch that became the "the shot heard around the world".
