: : : : DESTINATION PRODUCT - "Lexington's doughnut landscape has long been dominated by family bakeries with loyal followings. Neill Day, owner of Donut Days on Southland Drive, does not expect that to change. 'I'm not sure doughnuts are a destination product.'" From the Herald-Leader, Lexington, Ky., "We (heart) doughnuts," Feb. 2, 2004.

: : : : What is a "destination product"?

: : : Product or project?

: : Product.

: :::A destination product is one which has such a strong appeal or following that people will go out of their way to get it. They will make a special trip to a place they would not normally be to get the product.
: There are other 'destination' concepts. A 'destination resort' is one that is so special that it will be the focus of the vacation trip all by itself. Disneyland is one of these --- people don't go to Anaheim, they go to Disneyland.
: Starbucks has become something of a destinationn product in the states. I never thought I would see the day when people would go to a special place, and line up to pay three times the going rate for a cup of coffee..but, what do I know?

Interesting. Thanks.
