: : Hi,
: : Can I ask if there are any other languages which have the expression (literally translated from Spanish):
: : "The devil knows more by being old than by being a devil"
: : In being used fairly often on the Madrid streets these days. I ask because it does seem uniquely clever and universal, characteristics which should elevate it to multilanguage status.
: There's one used here in Ireland: 'The old dog for the road.' The old dog has survived through experience. It's used to describe a person who has survived many difficulties and has learned much from the experiences.
English proverbs:
The devil is full of knowledge because he is old.
The devil knows many things because he is old.
