Silly season

No it's not just the UK. In Portugal we also use "silly season" when summer comes and no political news hit the headlines. Unfortunately there are other news which are as important as the political ones - such as forest fires (ravaging Portugal this year). The translation for "silly season" would be quite a silly phrase, so "silly season" is often used.
