: From what I learned in history, the phrase came from the ORIGINAL decision..the one that freed him initially..I believe the phrase came out after the first decision came down..My theory is that by the time the appeal made it through court and also bear in mind, news traveled a lot slower back then.."scott free" was already a catchy little phrase, and was already being used...that's just a theory, but 'm sure the saying started shortly after the initial decision...
