Leo Durocher went to manage the NY Giants in the late 40's, he was asked by a reporter about the chances of the Brooklyn Dodges, his former team, to get into the World Series.
His reply was "They are a nice bunch of guys... they will probably finish last". From this, the reporter wrote that Durocher said "Nice guys finish last".
