: : Trying to translate into German . Was there a film by that title ? What does it refer to? original sin? or autumnal legends?

: It is a movie with Brad Pitt. See review at movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/l/legends_fall.html I can't be of much help beyond that. I didn't see the movie. Anyone?

Hey Klaus, probably in German there's a word twenty syllables long encompassing all the intimations expressed by this usage of "fall." The movie was pretty weak, kind of like a bad dream after some poorly digested Hemingway, but worth it for long-haired Brad Pitt wreaking apache-foo vengeance on the Huns who slew his brother (no offence intended, Klaus!).... The fall alluded to is a fall from grace, a fall from innocence, a fall from simpler times, and yes, some seasonal overtones as well with the implication that the hard winter of reality intruded on the pastoral idyll that was previously general. Hope that helps....
