: I heard this in a movie from England. "She has a face like a slapped horse." What does it mean? Is it common?
I guess it means the 'she' in question is ugly, albeit I've never heard the expression in that form. More often heard is the expression 'horse faced' or ' A face like a horse'.
I, for one, don't find a horse's face ugly but there you are 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.
