: is there a phrase like this and is it used in computer terminology?what does it mean?!
Your phrase refers to an already established entity, such as a Wal-Mart or a Sears (brick and mortar), which runs a paralell business on the internet in the form of www.sears.com as opposed to an internet pure play such as www.amazon.com which never had or has an actual, physical store into which you can walk.
