: : : "Clarisse paired up with Johnathan" means Clarisse joined Johnathan. The two of them work together in telling you all about it. They are partners. They form a pair. Another example: John and Mary might pair up to start a business.

: : : "Some unknown words to check on" probably means some words to look up in a dictionary. To check on something is to inspect it or to verify it. A parent might phone home to check on the children, to see that they are safe.

: A high-profile project is probably a work activity that many people will notice. I don't know "bags of character." You could try submitting the question again so that it will be at the top of the page and more people will see it.

In my computer I'm not getting to reach the end of the list. I think the list is big too much, so it has to be transferred to archivs.
