Shake her skin-coat

At the end of Boccaccio's Tenth story of the Tenth day the narrator says of Gaultieri that it would have serve him right if Griselda would have found a man "to shake her skin-coat for her." Anyone know the meaning and origin of this last phrase? Is this translation close to the Italian?
