I watched Truman Capote's In Cold Blood the other night. In the scene where the killers are trying to hitch hike, a car full of kind-looking African American guys stop to give them a ride. One killer refuses the ride and blurts some racist dialogue. Robert Blake's character, the other killer, says,"What up." He said it without the 's. Is this where the rap phrase came from? This movie is 40 years old. Just curious.
