: A read a quote recently. It sounds profound but I don't get it. Can anyone decipher this for me?
: "A ship is safe in the harbour, but that's not what ships were built for."
: P.S. Gary, time to archive?

Ships are built for adventure on the high seas. Human life lives up to its full potential when you take some risks. You can, like a ship at harbor, live safely and meekly in the protection of inaction. But living life fully demands that you set sail to visit foreign lands, ask the beautiful stranger for a phone number, quit the job you hate, speak out for what you believe, make the occasional fool of yourself, go too far, try too hard, wear the red socks, take scuba lessons and ride the roller coaster.
