: It's been "longer than a wet week" - many people seem to say "longer than a wet wig". Which one is correct?

It's "week". The idea is that time drags when the weather is horrible, so that a week of wet weather seems a whole lot longer than a sunny one. But when a wig is wet it doesn't look any longer than when it's dry, so there is no actual sense in saying "as long as a wet wig". (VSD)
