: Meaning and origin of spicks and specks [of my life ?]

"Spicks and specks" is a 1966 song (and album) by the BeeGees. Searching the internet for "spicks and specks of my life" only finds the lyrics to that song. I'd assume that the what the BeeGees meant is rather like "bits and pieces". Speck does mean a little piece or mark, but spick by itself does not appear in dictionaries with a matching meaning. I guess that the producers of the current Australian music trivia TV show would seem to not be concerned with insulting Latin Americans.
