: : "He who dies with most toys dies anyway".
: : Somebody sent me this quote and I have no idea what it means. Any ideas please?
: well, presumably "he with most toys" is the richest person, so that would mean something like "wealth isn't everything; rich people die just as poor people do". (VSD)
The quotation must be a spin on the older and more familiar saying "He who dies with the most toys wins," which is similarly a way of ridiculing people who make accumulation of wealth and possessions (yachts, planes, jewelry, sports teams, real estate) their chief goal in life and pursue it compulsively. ~rb
