: Hello, could anyone please explain the meaning of "a trip to the doghouse."?

I have heard of "a trip to the woodshed" (meaning someone is being punished) and being "in the doghouse" (in trouble). Being in the doghouse means someone (usually a husband) has done something so bad he isn't allowed in the house and must sleep with the dog.
