What he COULD have meant is "I am always up for a spin in the right direction." (Or, more prosaically, "I'm always glad to go for a spin....") Spin, here, obviously is used as in "Let's go for a spin," meaning "...go for a ride." I assume that it's the tires that spin, but I don't know if that's the case. As for "right direction," you would know better than I what direction that might be.
