: I am moving from my home to an apartment until my new home is constructed. When I shared this with a friend, he replied, "Two moves equals a fire." What exactly does that expression mean?

That in the course of two house moves, as many of your possessions will be lost or damaged as would happen in a house fire. This sounds a bit pessimistic; I have heard it as "three moves equals a fire", and I think that's about right!
