: Where did the phrases "hot headed", "dead meat", and "lose your mind" orginiate from?

My opinion: hot headed, quick to anger and rash behavior, would come from a person's flushed face. Dead meat -- meat is dead and dead meat is for emphasis. If you lose your mind, you are no longer in control or possession of your mental faculties.
