: I'm looking for the origin of the saying "You'll never plough a field by turning it over in your mind."

Everywhere I've looked says: "Old Irish proverb" and "author unknown". Perhaps someone else will be able to tell you. (Doesn't sound that old to me, though, for some reason). Pamela
