Blinder

Posted by Louise Barnfield on August 15, 2000

Does anyone know the origin of the term 'a blinder', meaning something incredibly good.
For example 'he played a blinder'...'he played a really great game, way above expectations'.
I checked in the phrases, but nothing's listed.
I don't know whether it's deviated over the years from some other meaning, or if it's some kind of cockney slang.
Anyone know???
Thanks - Louise
