: : what does "you're a heavy lift" mean?
: : I heard it said & wondered what it means
: Where'd you hear it said? Normally it would mean that the person to whom it is said is hefty, at least for the person doing the lifting. The use of "lift" could signal the milieu of a dance studio, in which it would be normal for men to be lifting women, or possibly a skating rink, for the same reason. Of course, even a light woman would be a heavy lift for a slender man who doesn't train. Any woman is a heavy lift for most men if she doesn't assist in the process by using her arms or hands for hanging on. SS
He ain't heavy, Father. He's my brother.
