: I on occasion here British politicians in Parliament use the phrase "here here". Dumb question I know, but what does that mean? "can I get your attention"? or maybe "what are you saying"? or "shut up, that comment is out of order"? or "its my turn to speak"?

"Hear, hear!" means "I agree heartily with the previous speaker."
