: When I was a kid, our neighbors used to hang aluminum pie plates in their cherry tree to freighten birds away. Maybe it was common practice back in those days, for people to hang pie plates in fruit trees to scare birds away. Anyway, it certainly catches your eye the way a chest full of medals would.
