: : : : : If the phrase used is "a tissue of lies" what is its opposite, is there a something of truth?

: : : : 'tissue' means an organisation of similar component parts - used in biology, it means a collection of cells.
: : : : 'tissue' is thin and flexible paper made from a fibrous structure.

: : : : a tissue of lies is thus a construction to deceive which is flexible yet thin.

: : : : the opposite might be a 'bastion of truth' - a solid defensive structure set on sound foundations easily seen and dominating its surroundings.

: : : : L

: : : Continuing the cellular theme, the opposite of a 'tissue of lies' may be 'an organ of truth'!

:
: : I think "tissue" in this phrase has an older meaning, "woven fabric" (from the French tissu). The idea being that something has been woven out of lies.

: Maybe...substance. 2 a : ultimate reality that underlies all outward manifestations and change (Merriam-Webster).

thanks for the 'woven' detail - gives detail to the 'manufactured' or 'spun' aspects.

a-tishoo of lies? gets right up my nose.
